History

CDL: The Beginning

1941

The Child Development Laboratory began as a half-day program for preschool children housed in the English Building.

1955

The Child Development Laboratory (CDL) building was built.

2003 

The Early Child Development Laboratory (ECDL) opened to expand the ages and numbers of children served by the CDL.

CDL: Now

Program

The CDL offers full day programming for 160 children aged six weeks through four years of age from both university affiliated and community families.

High-Quality Child Care

The CDL program has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 1990.

One Program, Two Buildings!

Infant, toddler, and two year old classrooms are in the ECDL building. Two year old and preschool children are located in the CDL building.

Lab School Functions

Both buildings were specifically designed to support teaching, research and outreach.
